Terms of use

Agreement

By using clearratecalc.com ("the site"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site. "We", "us", and "ClearRate" refer to the operator of this site.

What the site is

ClearRate provides free, informational mortgage and home-affordability calculators plus related written guides. It is an information service and nothing more. We are not a lender, mortgage broker, or financial adviser, and nothing on the site is a loan offer or personalised financial advice. This is important enough that it has its own page — please read the disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.

No account required

The calculators run entirely in your browser and need no account, signup, or personal information. We don't receive or store the figures you enter. Because there's no account, there's nothing for you to register, maintain, or keep secure with us.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the site for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of any applicable regulation.
  • Attempt to interfere with the site's operation or security — including automated scraping at a volume that degrades service for others, denial-of-service attempts, or probing for vulnerabilities.
  • Present our calculators or output as your own product, or embed them in a way that implies we endorse or are affiliated with your service.
  • Remove, obscure, or misrepresent the sourcing, dating, and limitation notices attached to our figures. Those notices are the difference between an honest estimate and a misleading one.

Intellectual property

The site's written guides, page copy, design, and code are ours and are protected by copyright. You're welcome to use the calculator output for your own personal planning, to quote or cite our guides with attribution and a link, and to reference our stated data sources directly. You may not republish our content wholesale, or reproduce the site in substantial part, without permission.

The underlying public data we rely on — central bank rate series, statistical agency figures — belongs to its publishers, is credited on the methodology page, and is subject to their own terms.

Accuracy and availability

We work hard to keep the maths correct and the data sourced and dated, but we don't warrant that the site will be accurate, complete, current, or continuously available. Rates change, sources revise their figures, and pages occasionally go down. The site is provided "as is" and "as available".

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special loss arising out of your use of — or inability to use — the site, including any borrowing, purchase, or financial decision made in reliance on our estimates. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Advertising and third-party links

The site is supported by display advertising served by third-party networks. Ads are not endorsements, and any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and them. We link to external sources so you can verify our figures, but we're not responsible for third-party sites. See the privacy policy for how advertising and analytics handle data.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
